Cherie J. Greenwood's Obituary
Decatur-Cherie J. Greenwood, 74 of Decatur, passed away 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Fair Havens Christian Home with her daughter by her side.
Services to celebrate Cherie's life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Dunning officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment with 'Flight Home' Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Cherie was born September 9, 1936 in Highland, Illinois the daughter of Marjorie (Stone) and Maurice Hendrix. She was the oldest of three children. Cherie devoted her life to teaching. She was a teacher for the Decatur Public Schools from 1966-1994. She also taught high school in Greenfield, Illinois for two years before that. She coached girl's tennis and played amateur level tennis locally. She touched the live of countless hundreds teaching history, current events, and psychology. She also enjoyed photography and music.
She leaves behind her daughter, Angie Greenwood Kremer of Decatur, grandchildren, Vanessa Galloway, Kristian Kremer, Elijah Kremer, and Joshua Goodwin, and sister, Patricia File of Denton, Texas.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents and brother, M. Michael Hendrix.
She was well respected, adored, and loved by many. She will be truly missed. Rest in peace, precious woman of God, mother, friend and teacher.
