Clara Galloway's Obituary
Clara L. Galloway, 100, of Decatur passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Clara was born on January 1, 1915 in Mt. Pulaski the daughter of Ferdinand and hazel Frances (Cox) Bobell. She married Wilbur Coy Galloway on May 21, 1936 in Springfield. He preceded her in death on October 31, 1998. They had two sons, M. Arvid Galloway now of Marionville, MO and Vernon Lee Galloway; deceased. She had two brothers, Henry Charles Bobell of Springfield; deceased and Albert Wayne Bobell of Long Island, NY. She also had one sister Elizabeth Mae Bobell; deceased.
Clara leaves her son Arvid and his wife Judy; four grandchildren, Michael Galloway; Lori and husband Carl; Lisa and her husband Sheldon and Scott and his wife Shanna. She also leaves eight great-grandchildren, Ashley, Camdyn, Ryan, Jacob, Macie, Christopher, Sarah, and Caitlyn, as well as five great-great-great-grandchildren, Amaya, Adalynn, Kynleigh, Ashlyn and Brinley.
She was surrounded by love and family at the time of her passing.
She started her career as a telephone operator, worked for Goldblats Department Store, in the kitchen at St. Patrick School, and volunteered with the Women’s Auxiliary at DMH.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and crafts.
She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star with which she once served as Worthy Matron.
Service to celebrate Clara’s life will be 2 PM Saturday March 14, 2015 in Graceland/Fairlawn with Pastor Russell Weise officiating. Visitation will be 1-2 PM Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
