Clarence "Pete" Lee Phillips' Obituary
Clarence Lee “Pete” Phillips, 89, of Minier, IL formerly of Mahomet, IL passed away on Friday April 8, 2016 in his home.
Pete was born on July 13, 1926 in Monticello, IL the son of Everett and Ina (Trumble) Phillips. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the American Legion. He was retired from building services at the University of Illinois –Champaign. He married Roseleen Walters on May 6, 1947 in White Heath, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Roseleen; son, Steve Phillips (Ron Melvin) of Minier, IL; son-in-law, John Saathoff of Bondville, IL; brothers, Clyde “Scoby” Phillips of White Heath, IL; Roy Phillips (Joyce) of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Jared Saathoff (Natalie); Luke Saathoff (Stephanie); and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jared, and Alexis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Dale Edward Phillips; one daughter, Debbie Saathoff; two sisters, Josephine Stamp and Bessie Nichols.
Funeral service to celebrate Pete’s life will be 11 Am Wednesday April, 13, 2016 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Rev. Katherine Beckett officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to the Minier Fire & Rescue Department.
