Clarine Compton's Obituary
Clarine Compton, 95, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday September 17, 2015, at Aperion Care.
Clarine was born on June 22, 1920 in Sulphur Lick , KY the daughter of Carter W. and Laura D. (Frazier) Russell. She worked as a seamstress for Osgood, and also Eldorado Factory, in which she later retired from. She married Oliver Don Compton on November 17, 1940. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and spending time with family.
Surviving are her daughters, Shirley (Tony) Benner of Decatur, IL, Donna (Tom) Reeve of Decatur, IL, JoAnn (David) Mesnard of Mt. Zion, IL; brother, Roy Russell, seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Don Compton, parents, Carter and Laura Russell, brother, Rondal Russell, and three sisters, Viola Bramer, Pauline Steinhauer, Maxine Seiler, and grandson, Mike Reeve.
Graveside services to celebrate Clarine’s life will be 11 AM Monday, September 21, 2015 in Graceland Cemetery. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Prairie Avenue Christian Church and/or donor’s choice.
