Claude Leroy Rambo Jr.'s Obituary
Claude Leroy “John” Rambo Jr., 74, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away December 17, 2024, at the Loft Rehabilitation Center of Decatur.
Claude “John” was born on December 23, 1949, the son of Claude L. and Gale (Binkley) Rambo Sr. He married Nikola Johnson on August 17, 1968, at Boiling Springs Church of God.
Claude “John” is survived by his son Claude L. Rambo III of Decatur; sisters Judy Bricker and Dana Stull; brother William “Bill” Cole; infant brother Dennis James Rambo; brothers-in-law Earl Johnson and Tony Hill; aunt Diane Phillips of Virginia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Claude “John” was preceded in death by his wife Nikola; mother and stepfather Gale and James Cole; father and stepmother Claude and Bonnie Rambo Sr.; and infant brother Dennis James Rambo.
John was an avid Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Illini fan.
John’s family would like to thank HSHS Medical Group, NP Melissa Edwards and staff, Cancer Care Center of Decatur, Drs. Velasco and Yoon and staff, St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur Memorial Hospital, Memorial Hospice, Hickory Point Christian Village, and Loft Rehabilitation Center of Decatur for the wonderful care they have given our loved one.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 26, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10am and will be followed by a funeral service at 11am. Burial in Graceland Cemetery will follow the service. Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
