Clement Cary Blackburn's Obituary
Clement Cary Blackburn, 96, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 8:30 A.M. on Tuesday (01-30-2024) at his home.
Clem was born on December 23, 1927, in Donnellson, IL, the son of William Clement Blackburn and Susie (Garwood) Blackburn. He married Barbara Joyce Hart on June 18, 1949, in Coffeen, IL. She preceded him in death on April 17, 2005, after almost 56 years of marriage.
He served his country during WWII in the United States Army and the United States Navy.
Clem was a member of Northwest Christian Church. He was a retired letter carrier from the United States Postal Service retiring in 1986. Clem was an avid fisherman and loved to go on fishing trips with his wife Barbara.
Clem is survived by his three children: Jeff C. Blackburn and wife Anne of Decatur, IL, Ruth A. Simcox and husband Paul David of Bellaire, MI, and Judy L. Snow and husband Bob of Mt. Zion, IL, grandchildren: Christi Lotz, Mark Snow, Yvonne Agar, Nathan Simcox, Nick Blackburn, eight great-grandchildren and his longtime companion Peggy Skarupa of Decatur, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one grandson Brad, one brother and two sisters.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday (02-03-2024) at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home with visitation from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. A Graveside Service will be held after the funeral in Graceland Cemetery.
