Cora Mae Hahn's Obituary
Cora Mae Hahn, 91, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday (07-04-2024) at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
Cora was born on October 13, 1932, in Hardinsburg, KY, the daughter of William Nash and Lula Mae (Horsley) Nash. Cora moved to Decatur with her family as a child. She graduated from high school in Macon, IL. She worked as an operator at Illinois Bell Telephone Company before marrying Edward L. Hahn on September 9, 1951, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Decatur, IL. She worked at Montgomery Ward where she enjoyed meeting people. Her faith and family were above all her highest priority.
Cora and her husband, Ed bought their first house in 1954. Cora proudly lived there for 69 years. She was a 60-year member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. She loved the outdoors, sunshine, and fresh air. She was an avid walker making many friends along her daily 6-mile route.
Cora leaves behind a son, Bruce Hahn (Barbara Scherder-Goetz) of Orlando, FL, and a granddaughter, Anna Hahn Kerrigan (Patrick) and great grandson Christopher Jack Kerrigan, all of Braintree, MA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward in 2012, grandson Christopher Hahn in 2009, daughter-in-law Bonnie Hahn in 2021 and daughter, Pamela Hahn in 2023, her parents-in-laws Alvin and Lois Hahn as well as her siblings, Louise Smith and Raymond Nash.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday (07-10-2024) at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with visitation from 10:00 A.M. until service time. The burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL.
