Cora Woods' Obituary
Cora Lee Woods, 75, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Cora was born on April 20, 1942, in Paducah, KY to the late Herman and Tempie (Dunning) Herron.
Cora was a prayer warrior who did everything in Jesus name and taught her children to always trust in God. She loved her family and was a best friend to all of her children. She loved her hats and suits and loved shopping just as much. She also loved to sing and cook.
Cora was a faithful member and secretary at Apostolic Christian Assembly for many years under the leadership of the late Bishop John Houston. Later she attended Christ Tabernacle where she was a devoted member and mother of the church for over 30 years under the leadership of Pastor Kelly Wilson. She worked as a life skills counselor at the University of Illinois and taught nutrition at Efnep for many years.
She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories; three sons; Robert Woods of Decatur, IL, Craig Woods of Racine, WI and Shawn (Gala) Woods of Decatur, IL; three daughters, Lynne (Arthur) King of Milwaukee, WI, Sharon (Kenneth)Wallace of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Latrina (Samuel) Bond of Decatur, IL.; God daughters, Angela Johnson, Mary Booker, Paula Wilson, Adgrine Jarrett and Chamica Demus; special sisters, Mary Crowder and Mary Houston; special brother, William Staniford; best friend, Bernice Watson;14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Cora was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ada Smith; four brothers including Jinks Arnold and Alvin Ware.
Services to celebrate the life of Cora Lee Woods will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Christ Tabernacle Church, 401 W Prairie Ave. Decatur, Illinois, IL 62522 , with a visitation from 10 a.m. until noon.
