Corlynn Lee Knoy's Obituary
Corlynn Lee Knoy, 86 passed away on September 2, 2015 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. Hearkening to a long awaited invitation, Corky ran into her Savior’s loving and protecting arms. Leaving behind a legacy that radiates her dedication to the Lord through family and friends she dearly treasured. She was a resident of the Vonderleith Living center in Mt. Pulaski, but lived most of her adult life in Chestnut, IL. Born in Monahans, Texas on January 15, 1929, she was the daughter of Corbin and Evelynn (Bowden) Baldwin and grew up in the Beason and Maroa area. She married Dallas L Knoy on Jan 11th 1948 and celebrated their 67th anniversary in January 2015.
Corky is survived by her husband, Dallas; her four children, Dan Knoy (Miriam) Danvers IL, Roger Knoy (Sheri) Clinton IL, Rhonda Mattern (Jay) Mt Pulaski IL and Sandra Schlosser (Tony) Clinton IL; thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; her brother, Dick Baldwin of Smithfield IL and her sister, Hallie Ford of Rushville IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; two sisters and one step – brother.
She was a member of the Clinton Assembly of God church and served as an officer in the AG Women’s Missionary Society. Corky was a dedicated leader of the Chestnut Happy Homemaker, 4H club for 10 years and was a beloved mentor to countless young people over her lifetime. Many friends of her children claimed her as a second mom and knew they would find unconditional love from her, no matter the situation. Her personal devotion to Jesus and her family was Corky’s life, calling her grandchildren ‘Little Angels’ and ‘Dollies’.
Corky’s funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept 8, 2015, at the Assembly of God Church 801 S. Mulberry St Clinton IL, with visitation two hours preceding the funeral, Pastor Dan Bell conducting the service. Interment will be at the Laenna Cemetery in Chestnut IL.
