Dale "Butch" Bundy's Obituary
Dale “Butch” D. Bundy, age 73, of Decatur, IL died on Friday, May 22, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital after a brief battle with cancer of lungs that had spread to his brain.
Butch was born in Decatur on January 14, 1942, the son of Raymond and Margaret Bundy. Butch married Lular Elizabeth Thomas in 2000 and she preceded him in death in 2003.
Butch retired from ADM nearly 25 years of service at age 58 after suffering a stroke. He spent his retirement enjoying the company of his many friends’ playing cards, shooting pool, and entertaining everyone with his jokes and stories. Butch liked to tell everyone that people used to call him Pretty Boy Bundy – but now they just call him Bundy. Butch was a very generous person to everyone he met. He would give you the last dollar he had if someone needed it. He loved his family and the Lord most of all.
Butch is survived by one sister, Linda L. Williams of Decatur; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Nikie.
He was preceded in death by his spouse; parents; brother’s Ray Bundy Jr. and Jimmie Bundy; and one sister Patricia Piatt.
There will be no services. Butch will be cremated as was his wife Lular Elizabeth and together their remains will be laid to rest at a later date.
The family would like to thank Dr.’s Jatoi; Valesco; and DePaz; the staff at St. Mary’s hospital during his stay for the kind and compassionate care that Dale received during his illness. Near the end, Butch believed himself to be a multi-millionaire and for those who knew him this was true to an extent – for he did have a heart of gold.
Remember him fondly with smiles and laughter. Obituary written by family.
