Dale B. Landes' Obituary
Dale Beery Landes, 87, of Oreana, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Imboden Creek Living Center.
Dale was born in Decatur, IL, May 28, 1932, the son of Arvel A and Lucinda (Beery) Landes. Dale was baptized at an early age in the Church of the Brethren, where his family faithfully attended.
He graduated from Stephen Decatur High School. He then volunteered to serve in the US Army and was honorably discharged on November 12, 1960. He served during the Korean Conflict as a radio operator. Following his service, he worked for Caterpillar for many years as a supervisor.
He married Christine Moses and She preceded him in death. He met his loving companion, Helen I Lance, twenty–three years ago. Helen survives. Dale enjoyed playing golf and bowling. He was on a bowling league at Decatur Bowl. He was also a member of the VFW.
He and Helen enjoyed antiques and taking classes to learn about them. He loved sharing his knowledge with others.
Until his failing health, he and Helen attended services at New Day Community Church for twenty years. They looked forward to weekly services.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Lowell Lee, sisters, Arlene Wise (husband Jim Survives) of Peoria and Reta June Snell (Philip of Auburn.
Dale is survived by nieces Cinda Lu (Richard) of Maroa and Taryn Wise of Oregon; nephews, Samuel Jan Snell (Patty) of Auburn, Jed Wise of Peoria, Jock (Beth) Wise of Oregon. He is also survived by his family, in love, Ron (Mary Beth ) Lance of Mt. Vernon, grandchildren, Stephanie (Greg) White of Sesser, Staci (Brian) Bechtel of Shiloh, great grandchildren, Gabe and Maura White, and Izaic and Sophia Bechtel.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday October 4, 2019 at New Day Community Church. Visitation will be from 10 – 11 AM at the church. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Wade, Dr. Tarter, and staff at Cancer Care Specialist, Dr. Daniel Smith, Imboden Creek staff and Harbor Light Hospice staff.
