Dale Ernest Moran Sr.'s Obituary
Dale Ernest Moran, Sr., 83, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away March 12, 2025, at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital.
Dale was born in Decatur on December 6, 1941, the son of George and Catherine Moran. He married Sharon Mathews on March 31, 1961, in Decatur, and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage together until her death in 2021.
Dale worked in the flour mill at ADM for many years. After a very brief retirement, he returned to the facility as a street sweeper. He was a very outgoing, friendly person. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed gambling and traveling, and he had hoped to explore the Rockies by train.
Dale is survived by his children April (Jeffrey) Beck of Decatur, Christina Bush of Decatur, and Dale (Tina) Moran Jr. of Decatur; grandchildren Ashleigh, Brett, Jessica, Brandon, Jamie, Zachary, and Gabriel; great-grandchildren Izabella, Izaiah, Adriyana, Cameron, Boone, Willow, Oakley, and Mila; and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Dale will be held on Monday, March 17, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10am and will be followed by a funeral service at 11am. Burial in Graceland Cemetery will follow the service.
