Dan R. Gilman's Obituary
Dan R Gilman, 63, passed away on November 19, 2015 with all of his children by his side.
Danny was born the oldest of 9 children, in Decatur, Illinois to Edward and Shirley Gilman on August 29, 1952. Danny married Dana Sanderlin on June 29, 1975. Together they had 5 daughters and finally his only son, with whom he was well pleased.
Danny was owner and operator of Parkway Auto Sales for many years. He was a selfless provider to all of his family and generous giver to anyone in need. He enjoyed volunteering at the Water Street Mission, and left a lasting impression on those he met. He was a believer and follower in the word of God, and we smile knowing he is in heaven explaining himself to Jesus, because we all know he was a great story teller.
He will be greatly missed by his children; Gina Lee Gilman, Kendra Kayle Gilman, Mindy Sue (Daniel) Cook, Jessica Lynn Gilman, Jenna LeeAnn Gilman, and Andy R. Gilman. He was a wonderful grandfather to his 9 grandchildren; Cierra, Carissa, Bailee, Callie, Jayden, Cassidy, Chelsey, Caylee Raye, and Bristol, and 2 great-grand children Bryson and Braylen. Brothers and sisters Bob (Cheri) Gilman, Dean Gilman, Connie Gilman, Deanna (Tim) Streight, Debbie Gilman, Gene McClain, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and brothers, Steve and Terry.
The family will be hosting a memorial gathering at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Maranatha Assembly of God. The family will receive friends one hour prior (4pm-5pm) at the church.
~ Dad instilled in his children wisdom, hard work, faith,
integrity, and family values. He was so proud of his children, we were the lucky ones.~
