Dannie D. Stoner's Obituary
Decatur-Dannie D. Stoner, 69, of Decatur, passed away at 4:50 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2010 at his home with his family by his side.
Services to celebrate Dannie's life will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 8 p.m. Interment with 'Flight Home' Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Care Associates of Central Illinois or DMH Hospice. Online condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
Dannie was born October 11, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of Walter Oliver and Dewey Beatrice (Stoops) Stoner. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He received his Bachelor's degree from Indiana University and his Master's degree from the University of Illinois. He was previously employed as a Hospital Administrator for small hospitals for many years, Director of Personnel and later Vice President of St. Mary's Hospital for several years, and lastly, Practice Administrator at Internal Medicine Subspecialty Associates. He was a Master Mason with Oakland Masonic Lodge #140 A.F. & A.M. in Oaklandon, Indiana and past President of the Abe Lincoln Miata Club. He enjoyed traveling, his Miatas, and was an avid sports fan. He was a die hard fan of Indiana sports especially Indiana University and the Indianapolis Colts.
He leaves behind his wife Karen, sons; Damon and wife Doreen of Franklin, Tennessee and Doug of Palm Harbor, Florida, daughters; Dawn Stoner of Sarasota, Florida and Christine Hart and husband Kevin of Sidney, Illinois, sisters; Neva Nickel and husband Walter, Veneta Apple, Delores Watson, and Joanna Stum all of Indianapolis, Indiana, and grandchildren; Oscar Felkner and Tori Hart.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents.
