Sgt. Darin M. Durbin's Obituary
Decatur – Darin M. Durbin, 24, of Decatur, passed away tragically on Thursday, July 4, 2024.
Darin was born November 29, 1999, in Lakeland, FL, the son of Thomas W. Durbin and Laurie A. Dumas. On March 26, 2024, Darin married Marilah Miller and expressed to all the first time they spoke he knew she is the one.
Darin was proud of his newly formed family and excited for the arrival of his daughter. He worked as a crew leader for ADM at the west plant refinery.
Darin proudly served our country as a Military Policeman in the Illinois National Guard. He deployed with the 233 MP Company to Kuwait from March to December 2021 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom – Spartan Shield. Darin achieved the rank of Sergeant and was still actively participating in the National Guard when he passed.
Surviving is his wife, Marilah of Decatur; children: Brynlee and daughter on the way Raelynn; parents: Laurie A. Durbin and Thomas W. (Susan) Durbin, Jr; sisters: Kaetlyn Mashburn (Blake) and Marinda Eversmann (Tyler); maternal grandmother, Georgette D. Dumas; stepbrother, Matthew Wayne; nieces and nephews: Kinsley, Michael and Jack; mother and father-in-law Jon and Chandra Quehl; many relatives and friends.
Darin was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather William J. Dumas, Jr; paternal grandparents: Thomas and Janet Durbin; uncles: Darin Durbin and Michael Dumas.
Visitation will be Friday, July 12, 2024, from 10 am to 12:30 pm at Life Builder’s Church. Military personnel will pay their respects from 12:30 pm until the service time at 1 pm. Burial will follow in South Macon Township Cemetery.
