Darrell R. Mollohan's Obituary
Decatur - Darrell Ray Mollohan, 88, of Decatur died 12:03 pm Friday (July 5, 2024) in the ICU at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday (07-26-2024) at Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown with military rites by the Macon County Honor Guard. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: DAV, VFW, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Darrell was born March 20, 1936, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Homer Harrison and Ellen Louise (Smith) Mollohan. He married Hanae Sugizaki in 1957 in Yokohama, Japan. He was a graduate of Lakeview High School and served in the US Army 1st Calvary Division at Camp Zama, Japan where he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He was a retired Teamster who worked for General Transfer Company for 35 years and was a member of the VFW Post 99 and American Legion Post 105.
Surviving are his daughter, Jeannie Mollohan of Decatur and son, George Robinette (Tamara) of Eureka, California; four grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; special companion Shirley DeWitt; nephews Bob Mollohan, Greg Mollohan, Mike Coleman, Mark Pittman, Tom Coleman; nieces Sherri Heather, Deana Mollohan, Suzy Barrett and special friends June and Brian Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, an infant son, two sisters, one brother and one niece.
