Darrell Eugene Strohl's Obituary
Darrell Eugene Strohl, 83, of Decatur, IL passed away peacefully, August, 23, 2018 at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
Darrell was born June 8, 1935 in Mode, IL, the son of Clyde Darrell and Lucille (Arthur) Strohl. He was a veteran of the US Army. On March 24, 1956 in Saginaw, MI, he married Alexandra Martinez and she survives.
Darrell was a Time Study analyst for Caterpillar Tractor Company. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan. Darrell enjoyed spending his spare time serving as a volunteer for the Salvation Army and volunteering as a baseball coach for the Khoury League.
Surviving are his wife, Alexandra; children, Darrell Anthony Strohl (Yolanda) of Chula Vista, CA, Maria Roarick (James) of Decatur, IL, Tina Schmitt (Steven) of Davenport, IA; siblings, Peggy Smith of Taylorville, IL, Barbara Schultz of Mt. Zion, IL, Florence Dammerman of Mattoon, IL, Norma Strohl of Mt. Zion, IL; grandchildren, Amanda Coyne (Brian) of Bossier City, LA, Andrew Schmitt (Paula) of Bettendorf, IA, Krysta Arnold (Ryan) of Eldridge, IA, Adam Strohl of Chula Vista, CA, Stefanie Strohl of Chula Vista, CA, Melanie Strohl of Chula Vista, CA and six great grandchildren with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and three brothers, Dale, Larry and William Strohl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Monday, August 27, 2018, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. A Prayer Service will be held 4:30 PM, Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
Memorials: St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
