David Eugene Andrews' Obituary
Decatur-David Eugene Andrews, 65, of Decatur, passed at 1:19 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 in his home with his family by his side.
David was born February 28, 1948 in Decatur, the son of James and Rosemary (Reid) Andrews. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam where he received two Bronze Stars. He was previously employed with Mueller Company retiring after thirty-two years of service. He enjoyed wood crafting, fishing, bowling, family, and friends. He married Alma Vance April 28, 1972. They shared over forty-two years together.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Alma, sons James A. Andrews and wife Teri of Decatur, Thomas R. Andrews of Decatur, David K. Andrews and wife Melissa of Rochester, Gregory C. Andrews and wife Kaye of Decatur, daughter Mary E. Smith and husband Chad of Petersburg, grandchildren Sara, Whitney, Jonathan, Tyler, Faith, Rose, Dylan, Colin, Khloe, and Lucas, great-granddaughter Stephanie, mother Rosemary Andrews, brothers and sisters Maggie, Linda and Ellis, Dan and Judy, and Chris all of Springfield, and many special friends that have been a part of his life.
He was reunited in Heaven with his father James, sister Donna, and grandparents.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all of the nurses and staff at DaVita Dialysis, McKinley Court, and Heartland Manor Care for all of their loving care.
Services to celebrate David's life will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Wheeler Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice. Family requests casual attire.
