David A. Haskell's Obituary
David A. Haskell, 66 of Decatur, formerly of Latham, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 in his home with his wife at his side.
Dave was born on May 28, 1950 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Kenneth and Dorothy (Willets) Haskell. He married Karyn Kush on March 17, 1972. He started a small business when he was just 21 years old that he continued to operate with his wife until his death. Dave was instrumental in founding the Illinois Association of Drainage Districts, a non-profit organization, in 1995. He loved his yearly trips to his farm in Hawaii, playing cards in Las Vegas and especially playing baseball with his grandsons, who were the lights of his life.
Surviving are his wife, Karyn, son, Matt Haskell of Gilbert, AZ, daughter, Sara Smith and husband Darren of Morton, IL, sisters Carol Kessler and husband Dave of Shelbyville, IL, Cynthia Bade and husband Don of Momence, IL, sister-in-law Janet Haskell of Muscatine, Iowa; grandchildren Devin and Blake Smith of Morton, IL
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and brother, Steve Haskell.
According to his wishes, he was cremated. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Illinois Association of Drainage Districts.
