David W. Seitz's Obituary
DAVID W. SEITZ, 62, of Ft. Myers, FL, formerly of Decatur, IL went to be with our Lord on September 19, 2023. David was born in Danville, IL on February 24, 1961. He was the son of the late Peggy A. Printy Seitz Shulke, Edward W. Seitz and stepson of David D. Shulke. His family lived in Danville IL and his father’s work then transferred them to Waukegan, IL, San Jose, CA, Wilmington, NC and Peru, IL before returning to Decatur, Il in 1973.
David attended Roosevelt Jr. High, where his mother had attended. He played trumpet under the direction of Mr. Festus Paul. He also attended MacArthur High School, Mt. Zion High School and graduated from Kemper Military School and College in Boonville, MO completing Army Reserve Officers Training Corps. He served in the U.S. Army. David excelled in baseball, enjoyed Scouting and building model railroads.
He leaves his stepfather, David D. Shulke, loving sister, Beth A. McCay, nieces, Rebecca Hill and Jennifer McCay and great niece, Ellie; stepsisters, Karen Trueblood, Marcia (Bob) Gooden and Sandra (Don) Amirault; many cousins, family friend and loving caretaker, Leslie Kowalski and friends in Ft. Myers, FL.
There will be a Memorial Service/Graveside Service at a later date. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.
Davids family would like to give special thanks to St. Vincent De Paul for their loving help given to David and to Jeff Green for opening his home to David and to Lee Memorial Hospital Oncology and doctors and nurses for their loving care.
