David A. Smith's Obituary
Decatur – David A. Smith, 80, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2020 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
David was born November 3, 1939 in Decatur, the son of Virgil and Dorothy (Goodrich) Smith. David farmed with his father, was a United States Air Force veteran and retired from Firestone.
David is survived by his children: Donna and husband Darrel Dippel, David Smith, Karen and husband Carlton Huckaby and Douglas and wife Jennifer Smith; sister Linda Miller of Texas and sister-in-law Pilar Smith of California; 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Mikel Ann Smith, brother Richard Smith and brother-in-law Donald Miller.
Graveside services will be 10 am, Friday, September 11, 2020, at Graceland Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Macon County Honor Guard.
The family would like to give a special thanks for the care of David to Dr. Sun and Dr. Patel. Also, a special thanks to the staff on the 4th and 5th floor of DMH.
