David Vincent Clary's Obituary
David Vincent Clary, 50, died at home of an acute asthma attack Sunday, May 6, 2018 in rural Decatur. He was born in Decatur, Illinois February 16, 1968, the son of Lyle B and Patricia (Lacox) Clary. He graduated from MacArthur High School. He worked for a time as a welder with his Uncle Steve “Rainbo” Clary at Air Float Corporation. He also worked at Caterpillar for a while.
While in Chicago in the early 90’s, he played Bass in some bands in the Wrigley Field neighborhood. He was a Deadhead following the Grateful Dead around. In 1996, he drove to Yellowstone National Park and worked in food service at one of the park’s facilities. While hiking at the park he and a friend came to the top of a hill and there was a bull bison staring them in the face. They turned and ran hoping the Bison would do the same. It did.
David was presently employed at Sloan’s Calzones as a cook and delivery person extroidinaire..
He leaves his parents Pat and Lyle of rural Decatur, brother Tim (April) of Decatur and sister Lynelle Clary of Madison, WI, Uncle Barry (Donna) Lacox of decatur, Uncle Dennis Lacox of Bloomington, IL and many other extended family members. David was very fortunate to have many good and talented friends.
He wa pre-deceased by his grandparents John and Beulah McGowin Clary and Edgar and Betty Smolinski Lacox, Uncle Kenneth Lacox, Aunt Angela Dannenburg Lacox, Aunt Janice Clary Carter, Uncle Stephen O’Clary, Aunt Joyce Brown Clary and his little dogs, Ginger and Frankie and one big dog Lloyd.
David will be cremated with a memorial gathering of family and friends at 6 PM, Saturday May 19, 2018, at the home of Peggy and Jim Baity. Memorials are welcomed to North East Community Fund and Decatur Humane Society.
