David Younger's Obituary
Decatur-David Younger, 79, of Decatur, passed away at 10:54 a.m. Friday, November 25, 2011, in St. Mary's Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate David's life will be 12 noon Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at St. James Catholic Church, 742 E. Clay St., with Father John Burnette, celebrant. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the mass at the church. Interment with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ss James and Patrick Parish or Homeward Bound Pet Shelter.
David was born November 27, 1931 in Decatur the son of Charles and Florence (Carter) Younger. He graduated from Decatur High School and attended Millikin University. He proudly served his country in the USAF during the Korean War. He was previously employed as a quality control supervisor with Mueller Company retiring after thirty-three years of service. He was a member of the Ss James and Patrick Parish and the American Legion Post #105. He was also a proud member of the 'Big Dummy' Golf Group. He married Barbara May Hunt December 1, 1956 in Decatur. She preceded him in death October 30, 2004.
He leaves behind his sons, Mark Younger of Decatur and Michael Younger and wife Kay of Cibolo, Texas, grandson, Steven Younger of Cibolo, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, wife, brothers, Robert and Lynn Younger, and sister, Beverly Garver.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Dan Smith, Cindy with the Infusion Clinic, Amy and all of the staff of Valet Services at St. Mary's, and all of the other physicians, nurses, and staff that treated David for all of their loving, compassionate care.
