Dean Kugler's Obituary
Dean Kugler, 92, of Decatur passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Dean was born on April 2, 1923 in East Chicago, IN, the son of Albert Charles and Lelah Marie (Hicks) Kugler. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II, and was a proud veteran of the Navy. Dean worked for Quantum Chemical as a chemical worker, and later retired with over twenty-five years of service. He married Joyce R. Taylor in Decatur, in September of 1970. Joyce preceded Dean in death in September of 2006.
Surviving are his daughter, Cheryl (Gaylord) Scherer of Peoria, IL; son, Greg (Cindy) Kugler of Franklin, TN; step-sons, John Rude of Illiopolis, IL, Mark (Jennifer) Rude of Wildomar, CA,; grandchildren, Ryan Scherer, Matt Kugler, Becca Kugler, Sarah Pritts, Molly Rude; great-grandchildren, Marissa and Cassidy Pritts.
Dean is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Kugler, parents, and his sister, Bernice Swinford.
Services to celebrate Dean’s life will be at 11a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery and conclude with military honors. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association.
