Decatur-Dean Madden, 88, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, September 02, 2010 at his residence with his family by his side.
A memorial service to celebrate Dean’s life will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday September 07, at the First United Methodist Church, 201 W. North St. Decatur, IL, with Pastor Kent King -Nobles and Pastor Miley Palmer officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Illinois Foundation or the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting family with arrangements. Dean was born December 5, 1921 in Decatur, IL the son of George and Opal (Ennis) Madden. Dean was a 33rd Degree mason and member of the Springfield Ansar Shrine. Dean was the past Chairman of the Board of the A.W Cash Company, local and state president of the Jaycees, one of the original founders of Soy Capital Bank, past board member of St. Mary’s Hospital, University of Illinois alumnus of the year, president of the Decatur Y.M.C.A, president of the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum, and president of the Decatur Public Library. He married Marilynn Amdal June 4th, 1944 in Champaign, IL.
Dean leaves behind his wife, Marilynn of 66 years, son; David John Madden daughter; Deborah Jo Williams, and grandchildren; Tiffany A. Williams, Benjamin M. Williams, and Larkin E. Richards and husband Brad.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents and brother; George William Madden.
