Dean Martin Wilson's Obituary
Dean M. Wilson, 101, of Decatur, passed away at 3:14 a.m., Monday, April 9, 2018, in his home. Graveside services will be Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 2:00 p.m.
in the Marrowbone Township Cemetery in Bethany, with Rev. Dr. Timothy Kovalcik officiating.
Mr. Wilson was born May 15, 1916, in Hanoverton, Ohio, the son of Ashley S. and Anna Bertha Moore Wilson. He graduated from Muskingham College in New Concord, Ohio, in 1937, earning a degree in Economics. Dean was a World War II veteran, achieving the rank of Lieutenant and was the Communications Officer on a destroyer minesweeper called the USS Southard DMS 10.
Dean was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Masons, and a seventy-one year member of the American Legion.
On March 9, 1943, Dean married the love of his life, Gwen J. Cruit, in Miami, Florida. They farmed in rural Macon.
Dean leaves behind children Jim Wilson and wife Donna of Portland, Oregon, Dee Buker and husband Cuyler of Macon, and David Wilson and wife Kathy of Macon, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, parents, brother, and son, Bill Wilson.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Veterans Affairs of Macon County, Harbor Light Hospice, and special care givers, Judy, Terica, and Carol.
