Dean "Pete" Thompson's Obituary
Decatur ' Dean 'Pete' Thompson, 78, of Decatur, passed away, Thursday, January 3, 2013 in his home after a short battle with cancer.
Pete was born on November 25, 1934 in Keith, IL the son of Herbert Raymond and Mable (Groves) Thompson He was retired from Mueller's and a member of Stephen Decatur Lodge #979 A.F. & A.M. and American Legion Castle William Post #105. He enjoyed woodworking in his free time and in his youth he enjoyed motorcycle riding. He married Patsy Calhoun on November 29, 1956. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2006.
Surviving are his, step-son, Kenneth Case of Decatur; step-granddaughter, Keri Mac Kendrick of Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Robert Thompson and Paul Thompson, and sister, Freda Watson.
Celebration of Life service will be 2 PM Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday with a Masonic Service at 5:30 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery with Military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard and conclude with the 'Flight Home' ceremony. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital for Children.
