Dee Coventry's Obituary
DECATUR- Dee Coventry, 78 of Decatur, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 9:17 pm in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family.
Services to celebrate Dee’s life will be held at Noon on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Decatur. Visitation will be begin at 10 Saturday until the service at noon at the church. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Dee was born on November 16, 1945, in Decatur, the daughter of Gilbert and Irene (Marsh) Moyer. Dee worked for the General Assistance Office from 1968-1989, then for the Decatur Township Clerk from 1989-1998 and was the Chief Deputy Coroner of Macon County from 1998-2020 when she retired, helping countless families in their darkest time. Dee was devoted to helping others and made a unforgettable impact on the community. Dee was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where she was very active. Dee loved to go shopping, visiting Gatlinburg and loved to celebrate Christmas all year long. Dee was happiest sharing time with her family and many friends. Dee married Don Coventry on July 8, 1989, in Decatur and he survives.
Surviving are her husband Don, children- Troy Wilson and Angel Wilson both of Decatur, step-children- Donna (Ed) Raycraft of Roanoke, VA, Debbie (Andy) Straker of Atlanta, GA, and Pam (Thomas) Simmons of Frankling, TN, sister- in law- Judy Moyer, grandchildren- Ashley (Brynn) Galloway, Donovan Resch, Camdyn Glenn, Nick Wilson and Jamie Wilson. Step-grandchildren- Evan (Macy) Raycraft, Claire (Matt) Green, Mark (Stephanie) Foreman and Jackie Foreman, 14 great grandchildren, nieces- Kelly (Doug) Nichols and Kim Haas and a host of friends.
Dee was greeted in Heaven by her parents and brother Leroy Moyer.
