Delbert Pryor's Obituary
Decatur-Delbert Pryor, 86, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Delbert was born May 11, 1931 in Lovington, Illinois, the son of Austin and Myrtle (Morgan) Pryor. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Delbert worked at Van Horn Hybrids in LaPlace, then sold John Deere tractors and implements at Willoughby Implement in Arthur for over twenty-years, and was a realtor with Brinkoetter & Associates and Area One Realtors. He was a member of LaPlace United Methodist Church, volunteer at Friendship Hill, and was the Corn Prince of North America. Delbert enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, running trout lines, camping, playing SkipBo and Dominoes, the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bulls especially Michael Jordan, and Illini basketball. He played fast pitch softball and served as an umpire and little league coach. Delbert also enjoyed singing and taught himself to play the guitar at the age of seventy-five. Delbert was a great fun loving dad and grandpa. He married Marjorie Green November 8, 1953. They shared over sixty-four years together.
Delbert leaves behind his wife Marjorie, sons Joe (special friend Mary Beth), Rob (Susan), and David Pryor, brother Gene (Sharon) Pryor, and grandchildren Derek (Courtney) Pryor, Shannon (Dan) Jedlicka, Marcus (Chelsea) Durand, Nicole Stukins, Hannah (Timothy) Rodgers, Ethan Pryor, Sarah Pryor, Heather Bolsen, and Sarah Durand, great-grandchildren Madilyn and Carter Pryor, Lylah Jedlicka, Grace and Gabe Durand, Braylon and Hudson Stukins and Nolan Krigbaum, Hailey Bolsen, Elizabeth and Kaitlyn Durand, and Ramona Rodgers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenny and Curt Pryor, and sisters Thelma Preston, Jewel Dugan, Kate Maxwell, and an infant sister.
Services to celebrate Delbert’s life will be 10:00 AM Thursday, December 28, 2017 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in LaPlace Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or LaPlace United Methodist Church.
