Delbert Wayne Schniepp's Obituary
Delbert Wayne Schniepp, 92, of Decatur, died June 23, 2018 at Generations at McKinley Court, Decatur, IL.
Delbert was born February 21, 1926 in Decatur, IL, the son of Otto F. and Alma F. (Zander) Schniepp. He was a graduate of Effingham High School. He married Leta I. Bryant on December 5, 1948 in Effingham, IL.
Delbert served as Regional Director for Saladmaster and was President of Seal-Rite.
Mr. Schniepp was a veteran of the US Army. he served during WWII with the 11th Airborne in the Allied Forces Command – ETO – PTO.
During his leisure time, Delbert enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and watching sports.
Surviving are his wife Leta; children, Mike J. Schniepp (Rita) of Redington Beach, FL, Chris Schniepp (Pamela) of Lake Saint Louis, MO, Mark Schniepp (Rebecca) of Niceville, FL; daughter in law, Kathy Schniepp, 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 1 son, Stanley B. Schniepp; 1 brother, Charles Dale Schniepp and 2 great grandchildren.
Cremation rites and memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Operation Enduring Support – Grace United Methodist Church- 901 N. Main, Decatur, IL 62521 or Salvation Army, Decatur, IL or any local veterans organization.
His wife, Leta would like for all to know that Del was a true gentleman, in every sense of the word-The finest person, I have ever known!
