Della C. Miller's Obituary
Della C. Miller, 87, of Decatur passed away peacefully to her heavenly home on March 24, 2024.
Della was born December 15, 1936, the daughter of Thomas and Ellen (Carter) Brennan. She married Lester Miller on August 28, 1954, and they had over 60 loving years together. Della worked at Garfield School earlier in her life as a playground supervisor and then later as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Decatur Memorial Hospital. After retirement, she volunteered at DMH in the surgery waiting room as well as at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she was a faithful member. She was also an active member of the Kiwanianne Club.
Della enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and was known for her lively sense of humor. She joyfully loved everyone in her life well. Her warmth and kindness will always be remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
Surviving are her children: Cindy Storey of Decatur and Douglas Miller (wife Joelle) of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren: Douglas Miller (wife Jacki), Cara Francis (husband Rob), Nick Butcher (Mary), Brittany Giron, and Sarah Braswell (husband Aaron); great-grandchildren; brother John Brennan, and sister-in-law Pamela Brennan. Della was preceded in death by her husband Lester Miller, and brothers Ray Brennan, Jerry Brennan, Robert Brennan, and Tom Brennan.
Services to celebrate Della’s life will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1 Bachrach Ct, Decatur. Visitation will be prior to the service at the church from 9-11 a.m. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Decatur, IL.
