Della K. Whipple, 95, of Mt. Zion formerly of Decatur passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014 in Heritage manor Nursing home.
Graveside service to celebrate Della’s life will be 11 AM Thursday, April 3, 2014 in Graceland Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Watts officiating.
Della was born on September 5, 1918 in Ogden, UT the daughter of Lawrence and Neta (Pritchett) Huston. She attended Life Four Square Church before her illness. She loved reading, watching sports on Television. Her greatest love was cooking for her family. She married Wallace W. Whipple on August 29, 1941 in Elko, NV. He preceded her in death on November 30, 2009.
Surviving are her sons, Gary Whipple (Beverly) of Decatur; Kelly Whipple (Ru th Holmes) of Springfield; daughter Linda Duncan (Robert) of Mt. Zion; 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 3 brothers, Floyd L. Huston, Kenneth L. Huston, and Donald L. Huston.
The family would like to thank Heritage Manor Staff especially Leanne Canaday for all their care of Della during her illness. The family would also like to thank DMH 4100 nurses for their excellent care during her recent stay.
