Delores Maxine Spelbring, 84, of Decatur, IL, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Evergreen Place Supportive Living, Decatur, IL.
A Celebration of Delores’ life will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2013 at
Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of ashes will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur, IL.
Delores was born May 12, 1929 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Ray and Leona (Seitz) Franklin. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Decatur, IL. She worked in housekeeping at Decatur Memorial Hospital, and in food service at A.E. Staley Manufacturing, Decatur, IL. She was a member of the Moose, and Red Hat Rejoicers club. She loved to read. She was a season ticket holder at the Little Theater in Sullivan, IL. She loved the girls’ getaway weekends she had with her sister and her four daughters. She was very proud of obtaining her GED May 25, 1988. Her pride and joy was her family. She married Robert A. Spelbring on June 26, 1949 in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1997.
She is survived by her four daughters: Carol (John) Bruder, Decatur, Patricia Brewer, Decatur, Nancy (Mike) Patrick, Mt. Zion, and Gayle (Rob) Tipsword, Oreana; grandchildren: Eric (Heather) Bruder, Germantown Hills, IL, Nikki (Dave) Francis, Mandi (Matt) Francis, Emily-Kati (Scott) Davidson all of Decatur, IL, Shelbi (Andy) Wagner, Sullivan, IL, Tracy (Bart) Ellingson, Mooresville, NC, Josh (Ivonne) Patrick, Stafford, VA, Chad Tipsword, Decatur, IL, Jon (Rachael) Tipsword, Springfield, IL; and great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Aiden Bruder, Gretchen Watkins, A.J. Francis, Kyla Patton, Lola, Samuel, Brennan, Juwan, and Lige Davidson, Savana Brewer, Morgan Grinestaff, Gracie Kile, Presley Wagner, Emma and Abby Ellingson, Isabel Patrick, Gabe and Rowan Tipsword; her brother, Donald Franklin, San Antonio, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister Shirley Wombacher, Decatur, IL, brother Roger Franklin, Hartley, DE, son William (Billy) Robert Spelbring, and grandson John Scott Bruder, Morton, IL.
The family would like to especially thank Evergreen Place Supportive Living staff for their excellent service they provided Delores. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Decatur Public Library, or Decatur Senior Center.
