DeWayne E Adams, 67, of Decatur, IL passed away December 16, 2023 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
DeWayne was born June 17, 1956 in Sandusky, IL, the son of Richard Batts and Bessie Madison.
DeWayne worked as a clerk for Autozone until his retirement. He loved fishing, and was an avid car enthusiast, who took immense pride in his 64 Chevy Impala. He also enjoyed spending much time with his family and friends.
Surviving are his children, Antoine Adams (Torry) of Nashville, TN, Tallauanh Meriweather (Marcus) of Decatur, IL, Charmaine Shirley of Atlanta, GA, Anwar Jackson (Elisa) of Indianapolis, IN, Ashley Foreman of Pittsburg, PA; uncle, Theodis (Pete) Batts of Decatur, IL; aunt, Mary Johnson of Michigan City, IN; siblings, Florence Parsons of Decatur, IL, Michael Adams (Jennifer) of Decatur, IL, Terry Adams of Decatur, IL, Angel Madison of Minneapolis, MN, Karen Adams of Decatur, IL, Brenda Batts of Indianapolis, IN, Kathy Batts of Michigan City, IN, Sharon Yuscius of Michigan City, IN; grandchildren, Tyonna Adams, Jordan Palmer, Tyler Moore, Trinity Leaks, Olivia Moore, LaCacia Jackson, Unique Jackson, Zeke Williams, Elivia Jackson, Anyia Jackson, Braylin Jackson, Amir Jackson, Leaniyah Jackson, Zyhan Meriweather and five great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Dewayne was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Cleo Parsons, Byron Adams, James Adams and sister Toni Brown.
A memorial visitation has been scheduled from 4 – 6 PM Friday December 22, 2023, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home.
