Diana Elizabeth Rule, 69 of Decatur IL, passed away Saturday, March 30th, 2019 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. She was surrounded by her sisters and, most importantly, had all three of her children by her side.

Diane was a devoted mother and lived for her family, especially her grandchildren. Her life was always filled with eager anticipation to spend her weekends attending each and every event of her beloved grandchildren. The holidays were a time of fruition to Diane’s dedication to her work, a time which she was able to spoil her family with gifts and memories that will last a lifetime, each of whom returned the generosity with smiles and joy, which truly filled her heart. Diane’s devotion to her family extended beyond her immediate family. The countless miles she traveled so often to visit family and loved ones in Indiana and New Orleans was yet another testament of her close bond, joy and love for her siblings and extended family.
Most of her career was spent working at Decatur Memorial Hospital and United Parcel Service (UPS) where her coworkers quickly became an extension of her family. While many of her coworkers had never experienced the joy of meeting Diane’s family, they could all recite the multitudes of joyous stories she loved sharing so often. Her warmth and compassion was felt by all, as she was special to so many people, always smiling, talking about her family and life’s next adventure. These friends whom, through her love and kind heart, have also become her family themselves.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the entire staff of Decatur Memorial Hospital, not limited to Dr. Nadal Aker, the ICU staff, nurses on 5100, and other ancillary services associated with her compassionate care. Diane had a deep appreciation for Dr. Keith Mankowitz and Dr. Jeremy Leidenfrost at St. Luke’s in Chesterfield, MO for their skill and expertise in caring for her as well.
