Dixie Y. Moore's Obituary
Decatur – Dixie Y. Moore, 61, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Dixie was born July 30, 1956 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Robert and Dixie (Beard) Owens. She worked at Millikin University and was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church. Dixie married Jerry Moore February 28, 1976 in Decatur.
Dixie was prom queen of her senior class at Lakeview High School in 1974. She was an accomplished gymnast as well as an instructor. Dixie was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed long rides with her husband and children.
Surviving are her husband, Jerry of Decatur; children: Toby Moore, Amanda Moore and Jake and Katy Moore all of Decatur; grandchildren: Chase Moore, Jake L. Moore, Gina Lea Moore and Emelia Moore; sister, Robin Owens of Decatur; best friends: Suzie Dudas and Cheryl and Kris Ogelsby; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents; brother Bobby Owens and sister Terri Lane.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Friday, March 2, 2018 in the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Services to celebrate her life will be 2 pm Saturday, March 3, 2018, in the funeral home. Burial will take place in Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg, IL. Memorials may be made to: Disabled American Veterans or any military organization of the donor’s choice.
