Donald Anthony's Obituary
Decatur-Donald “Tony” Anthony, 71, of Decatur, passed away 1:45 am Sunday, February 15, 2009 at his residence with his family by his side.
Services to celebrate Donald’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home will be assisting with these arrangements.
Donald was born December 21, 1937 in Shelbyville, KY the son of Floyd L. and Mildred (Heerdt) Anthony. He was a “Class of 1957” graduate of Springfield High School in Springfield, IL and later attended Purdue University. Donald proudly served his country in both the Air Force and Army and he later was employed as a machinist for Caterpillar in Decatur for thirty-six years. He married Sonya Deetz on August 9, 1986 in Mt. Auburn, IL.
He will be sadly missed by his wife; two sons, Brandon (Heather) Anthony of Indianapolis, IN, and Clint Anthony of Nashville, TN; four daughters, Shannon (Matthew) Marks of N. Carolina, Sasha (Alonzo)Walker of Eagan, MN, Shawnna Anthony of Minneapolis, MN, and Majaya Anthony at home in Decatur; and six grandchildren, Miranda Anthony, Olivia Anthony, Kieara, Anthony, Tarra Walker, Tymante Walker, and Alannah Walker.
Donald will be reunited in heaven with his parents. Donald enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he loved very much, playing practical jokes, scuba diving, fishing with his daughters. Donald also enjoyed cheering on his favorite drivers, the Burton brothers, as he was an avid NASCAR racing fan.
