Donald D. Dodson's Obituary
DECATUR — Donald D. Dodson, age 80, of Tomahawk, WI, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at the Hospice House in Wausau, WI, under Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice. He was born March 1, 1935, in Decatur, IL, to the late Lanford and Viola (Nugent) Dodson. He was married to Patricia Buckley on August 19, 1960; she survives.
Don grew up in Decatur, IL, and was a 1954 graduate of Decatur High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Don was employed through the University of Illinois for many years where he made research equipment. Don and Pat moved to Tomahawk in 2000 where he enjoyed fishing, trap shooting and the outdoors. He enjoyed staying active and was a member of a senior softball league until the age of 65 and was also a member of a bowling league. Don was a classic car expert and was a member of the Antique Outboard Motor Club, Inc., the Horseless Carriage Club of America, the Reo Club of America, and the Antique Gas Engine and Tractor Association. Most of all, Don enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include: His Wife, Patricia Dodson, of Tomahawk, WI; 1 Son, Jeffry (Angela) Dodson, of Plano, TX;1 Daughter, Donna Pfister, of Rolling Meadows, IL; 1 Brother, James (Mary) Dodson, of Wheaton, IL;1 Sister, Mary (Thomas) Bowman, of Decatur, IL. Don is further survived by 3 Grandchildren, Andrew, Amy and Gina, and several Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Mother, Viola, His Father, Lanford, and Stepfather, Robert “Stubby” Stubblefield.
A visitation for Donald Dodson will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015, at Generations Funeral Home in Tomahawk, Wisconsin from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2015 at Graceland Cemetery Decatur, Illinois. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2015 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home Decatur, Illinois. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
