Donald "Larry" Drew's Obituary
Decatur-Donald 'Larry' Drew, 74, of Decatur, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012 in Lincoln Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center with his family by his side.
Services to celebrate Larry's life will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial with 'Flight Home' Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Life Foursquare Church.
Larry was born August 14, 1937 in Decatur, the son of Levi and Faye (Mendenall) Drew. Larry was employed with the Decatur water department for six years and a police officer with the City of Decatur retiring after twenty-three years of service. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He was a member of Life Foursquare Church and enjoyed gardening, traveling, firearms, and his dogs. He most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren. Larry married Jean Spaar July 31, 1958 in Decatur.
He leaves behind his wife Jean, sons Dennis R. Drew and wife Janna of Decatur and Darren L. Drew and wife Kay of Cape Coral, Florida, daughters Tawnya J. Longbons and husband Mike of Mt. Zion and Teri J. Thomas and husband Gayland Thomas of Warrensburg, brother Leon Drew and wife Rosemary of Decatur, sisters Fern Rewerts of Decatur and Betty Davis and husband Cecil of Decatur, grandchildren Kristi Rodriguez and husband Erick, Matthew Drew and wife Melissa, Zachary Drew, Kandi Michener and husband Skot, Michael Longbons, Nikki Longbons, Lani Taylor, Elijah Thomas, Ariel Brown, Lacey Drew, and Misty Drew, and great-grandchildren Faith Owens and Beckam Rodriguez.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Larry's sister Betty for her countless visits, care, and devotion to her brother.
