Donald F. Eichel's Obituary
Donald F. Eichel, 79, of Decatur, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015, in Fair Havens Christian Home.
Donald was born September 15, 1935, in Decatur, IL, the son of Fred and Helen (Besalski) Eichel.
Donald graduated from Decatur High School in 1954, and he later attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago where he studied music and sang in the Moody Corale. He graduated in 1957. Donald was an accomplished violinist and singer who once were offered to play for the Philharmonic Orchestra. He worked in the family business, Eichel Painting, until he retired. Donald married Irma Pruss on August 15, 1959 in Decatur. They shared 55 wonderful years together.
Donald leaves behind his wife, Irma; son, Timothy Mark (Lora) Eichel of Decatur; brother, Richard Eichel of Gulf Shores, AL; grandchildren, Brandon Tuvell of Decatur; Kyle Dobbs of Sullivan, IL; Andy Eichel of Tennessee; Chase Shanle of North Carolina; and five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Eric Robert.
Services to celebrate Donald’s life will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2015 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Graceland Cemetery.
