Donald Eugene Hadden's Obituary
Donald E. Hadden, 90, passed away Tuesday July 16, 2019, at home in Decatur. Don, son of George and Coreene (Noland) Hadden, was born in Blue Mound, Illinois, on October 17, 1928. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary; children, Patricia Hodges (husband, John Allen), Springfield and Kent Hadden (wife, Kathy); grandsons, Daron and Drew, Mt. Zion; step-children, John David Allen (Thuy Nguyen) Nobelsville, IN. and Patrick Allen (wife, Megan) Sherman, IL; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Harold of Eugene, OR.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George and Dean; sister, Betty; and step-grandson, Brian Allen.
Before securing his Real Estate License in 1977, Don worked as an auto mechanic for 31 years. Before starting Don Hadden Realtors, he worked with Tom Brinkotter and Jim Masey.
Don researched genealogy extensively and wrote thorough histories of both the Hadden and Weaver families. His interest in singing found him in the Zion Chapel United Methodist Church choir and barbershop quartets and choruses. For over 50 years, he sang with groups such as the Chordsmen in Decatur, the Ambassadors of Harmony in St. Charles, Mo., and the Chorus of the Keys in Sarasota, Fl.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. William Franklin and his staff for their attentive care and concern during Don’s illness.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 30, at Zion Chapel United Methodist Church, Boody. Visitation begins at 10 am with services at 11. Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Chapel United Methodist Church, P O Box 11, Boody, IL 62514.
