Donald J. Hynds' Obituary
Donald J. Hynds, 89, of Decatur passed away on Friday November 6, 2015 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service to celebrate Don’s life will be 2 PM Tuesday November 10, 2015 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1-2 PM Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to Central Christian Church of Decatur.
Don was born on August 16, 1926 in Granville, Illinois. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific theatre. He graduated from Bradley University in 1951 and was employed by Illinois Power Company for 38 years, retiring in 1989. He then was President and general manager for M.E. Barber Company until 2000. Don was a member of the Granville Masonic Lodge 1093 and the American Legion post 180. He attended Central Christian Church of Decatur. He married Elaine Barber on May 1, 1955.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; sons, Steven Hynds (Tina) of Decatur; David Hynds (Laura Lee) of Orlando, FL; daughter, Lori Henry (Dan) of Monticello; seven grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and one sister, Janice Wrona of Joliet.
