Donald F. Kerns' Obituary
Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the Kerns family with these arrangements. Memorial contributions may be sent to Macon County Honor Guard.
Donald was born November 27, 1935 in Bement, Illinois, the son of Frank and Florence (Bruhn) Kerns. He married M. Carole Boldrey on July 6, 1991 in Decatur. He served our country in the Navy during the Korean War on the USS Healy. Don was self employed with Don Kerns Construction. He was very involved with bowling and billiards. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a person with a big heart and would help anyone that needed him. He loved kids and sponsored many girls’ softball teams as well as one of his bowling teams. There was never a dull moment when you were with him. He loved having fun wherever he was.
Don was a huge Chicago Cubs fan since 1957. He would go to Wrigley Field every year for at least one game. He was fortunate to have a brick paver placed in front of Wrigley Field with his name on it, and he was very proud of that brick. He will always be a part of Wrigley Field, and that meant so much to him.
He will be missed by his wife: M. Carole Kerns, sons: Ken Kerns of Grovetown, GA, and Chris Kerns of Hammond, Illinois, step-daughter Rhonda White of Decatur, sister: Janice Schnetzler of Mt. Zion, brother: N. Dean Kerns of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and his wonderful grandchildren: J.D. Bonn, Dayton White, Amanda Kerns and Katie Kerns.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents: Franklin and Florence (Kate) Kerns.
