Donald "Don" LeRoy Hilton's Obituary
Mount Zion-Donald “Don” LeRoy Hilton, 62, of Mount Zion, IL passed away at 2:43 a.m. on Sunday May 7th, 2017 at Decatur St. Mary’s Hospital.
Don was born on February 1, 1955, in Muskegon, Michigan, the son of Jimmie D. and Aline (Hector) Hilton. He graduated from Mt. Zion HS in 1973. He then served proudly in the Navy from 1973-1975. Don married Carolyn (Swing) on April 29, 1982. He worked for Staley’s for 17 years in Decatur, and then worked for ADM for 10 years and did many other odd jobs in between. He was a member for the Mt. Zion First Baptist Church, and attended Lovington Church of God while residing in Lovington. Don enjoyed working on cars, all kinds of auto racing, and watching his grandkids grow up.
Don is survived by his wife: Carolyn Hilton of Mt. Zion, sons: Israel (Missy) of Mt. Zion, Justunn of Lovington, Frank (Lauren) of Lovington, daughters Chantell (Travis) of Bethany, Veronica (Matthew) of Sullivan, his mother Aline Hilton of Mt. Zion, his brothers Dave(Lisa) of Gilbert, AZ, Jeff (Therese) of Moweaqua, IL, sister Janice (Rick) of Decatur, IL. Don had 17 grandchildren. Also surviving are many special friends, including Gary and Diane Stovall and Tonja Price.
He was proceeded in death by his father, his grandparents, granddaughter Emma Hilton, and grandson Seth Hilton.
The family would like to say a very special thank you to the doctors and nurses in the St. Mary’s Hospital ICU unit.
A service to celebrate Don’s life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 12, 2017, at Lovington Church of God. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5:00-8:00pm Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Lovington Church of God community center. Don will be laid to rest at Keller Cemetery in Lovington. The family has set up a memorial fund in Don’s name at the Hardware State Bank in Lovington.
