Donald G. Netherton's Obituary
Donald G. Netherton, 72, of Decatur passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015 in his home.
Services to Celebrate Donald’s life will be 2pm Monday, January 12, 2015 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services, with Pastor Rodney Houser Officiating. The services will conclude with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association and/or American Heart Association.
Don was born November 17, 1942 in Sullivan, IL, the son of Olen and Maude (Emerton) Netherton. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and proudly served from 1965-1967. Don was also a member of the Lovington Church of God. Don married Anita Carol Adams of Taylorville on November 26, 1966 and spent forty-eight years of living with and loving his best friend and wife. Don retired from Firestone with thirty years of service. In 1995, where he spent twenty-four years as the benefits representative for URW Local 713. Don also spent twenty-five years as a trustee for the Hickory Point Fire Department in Forsyth.
Don was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved to cook, fish, camp and was a avid follower of drag racing, NASCAR, the Bears, Card’s and Illini basketball fan.
He leaves his wife Anita of Decatur, sons, Brad (Jennifer) Netherton of Argenta, Brian Netherton of Warrensburg, Donnie Crist of Phonix, AZ; Scott (Brenda) Crist of Cerro Gordo; granddaughters Mia, Katie, Krista, April, Abby; grandsons, Matt, Ben, Caleb, Jordon, Austin, Matthew, great grandchildren, Kiersten, Shawn, Kyran, Riley; sisters, Modeana (Wayne) Barnes of Sullivan, Maurine (Don) Sanders of Bethany, Kate (Bill) Miller of Tuscola and Linda Jarandof Sullivan.
Don was preceded in death by his mother and father, his son Kevin Crist, brothers Fred and Mitch Netherton.
