Donald C. Sterling's Obituary
Decatur-Donald Sterling, 86, of Decatur, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2011 in St. Mary's Hospital with his family by his side.
A service to celebrate Donald's life will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2011 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Department of Veterans Affairs.
Donald was born November 20, 1924 in Tuscola, IL, the son of Curtis and Nellie (Thornton) Sterling. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during W.W.II. He was the owner/operator of the Golden Glaze Donuts in Decatur, IL for more than 36 years. He also worked 17 years at Staley's, and sold real estate for Roby & Roby. Donald was a wonderful husband and a loving father. He married Estella Bilyeu on August 24, 1951 in Decatur, IL.
He leaves behind his wife Estella, four daughters, Dawn (Mike) Mowen of Decatur, Tari (Clark) Peterson of Decatur, Jody (Jerry) Cox of Decatur, and Lori (Dean) George of Mt. Zion; grandchildren, Brian Mowen, Donnie (Jill) Peterson, Tony (Lindsey) Peterson, Amie Kurtenbach, Sarah (Tom) Bader, Holly (David) Cook, Daniel George, and Alycia (Michael) Hogue; and six great-grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Kola and the staff of the 6th and 7th floor of St. Mary's Hospital.
