Donald Doyle Tate,'s Obituary
Donald Doyle Tate, Sr., 74, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016, at his home, with his family by his side.
Donald was born October 22, 1941, in Decatur, to Robert Henry and Ada Marie (Rex) Tate, Sr. He served in the Army from 1961 to 1963. He married Grace Larck on December 19, 1959, in Decatur.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Grace; one son, Donald (Terri) Tate, Jr. of Decatur; one daughter, Donna Tate of Decatur; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five brothers, Robert Tate of Decatur, Clyde (Corliss) Heckwine of Argenta, John (Charlotte) Ennis of Champaign, Charles (Linda) Heckwine of Oreana and Danny (Betty Jo) Heckwine of Decatur; three sisters, Anna Vest of Maroa, Mary Jane (Scott) O’Keefe of Kentucky and Catherine (Bill) Bonacorsi of LaGrange, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to give special thanks to close friends and family who cared for Donald and his family.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Donald Tate, Sr. will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to DMH Hospice or Cancer Care Specialist.
