Donette A. Renfro's Obituary
LOVINGTON – Donette A. Renfro, 79 of Lovington, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly at 2:19 AM Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Donette was born on December 17, 1935 in Hillsboro, IL a daughter of Walter “Cotton” and Leona (Kenny) Grabow. She had worked at Switchcraft and had been a cook at the Lovington Schools before retiring. Donette was a dedicated member of the First Church of God in Lovington where she worked in many ministries serving others. She enjoyed going on bus trips, knitting, pretty punching and even going mushroom hunting. She was an avid Cardinal fan. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her amazing rolls and many deserts that she would share with others. Donette married Harold E. Renfro on July 3, 1954 in Hillsboro and they celebrated their 60th Anniversary this past summer.
Surviving are her beloved husband Harold of Lovington, sons- Skip and his wife Debbie Renfro, Bob and his wife Marylisa Renfro, daughter- Bev and her husband- Scott Connelly, and daughter-in-law- Diane Renfro all of Lovington, brother- Walter and his wife Mary Grabow of Normal, sister- Sharon Ulrici of Hillsboro, grandchildren- Jenny (Jim) Erixson, Tasha (Jason) Bowman, Jason (Callie) Renfro, Megan Connelly, Mallory Renfro, Tiffany Renfro, Leslie Connelly and Kelsey Connelly, great grandchildren- Tyler Erixson, Jessica Renfro, Mackenzie Erixson, Carlys Thornton, Lucas Leech, Aiden Erixson, Mya Bowman, Avery Renfro and Cheyenne Bowman.
Donette was greeted in Heaven by her parents and her son Gerald “Jerry” Renfro.
Donnette loved to serve others. She was a wonderful wife, devoted mother and cherished as a grandma who has left a void that will never be filled in the hearts of those that knew and loved her.
Services to celebrate Donette’s life will be held at 10 am Thursday, January 29, 2015 in the Lovington First Church of God. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 on Wednesday in the First Church of God Family Center, Lovington. Interment will be in Keller Cemetery, Lovington. Memorials are suggested to the First Church of God or to the Lovington Ambulance Service.
