Donna Grace Renton's Obituary
Mt. Zion-Donna Grace Renton, 61, of Mt. Zion formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, died 5:29 p.m. on February12, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Donna was born on September 30, 1952 the daughter of Donald H. Humphrey and A. Jane (Wallace) Farrell. She attended the University of Pittsburgh. She married Bruce R. Renton on October 20, 1973 in Pittsburgh, PA. Donna was an Ophthalmic Assistant at Center for Sight for Phillip D. Alward, MD. She began that career at Gailey Eye Clinic, Forsyth in 1995, followed by five years at Central Illinois Vision Center for Marcus S. Deranian, MD. Donna enjoyed golfing, reading, and gardening, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Donna was a member of the 9 & 18 Hole Ladies Leagues at South Side Country Club since 2003. She was a volunteer at DOVE for the BABES program and previously was a volunteer for the Shemamo Girl Scout Council as a leader for both of her daughters, plus the Mt. Zion Service Unit Manager and a Council trainer.
Surviving Donna are her mother, A. Jane Farrell of Hudson, FL; her husband, Bruce of 40 years; their daughters: Becky Renton of Mt. Zion and Susan Renton of Champaign-Urbana; grandson, Andrew Pierson of Mt. Zion; siblings: identical twin sister, Diana (Dennis) Schoeppner of Winter Springs, FL; sister Joy (Greg) Jackson of Houston, TX brother, Ken Humphrey of Hudson, FL; half-sister, Janet (Fred) Timms of Hanover, PA; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, grandparents, and a half-sister.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ben Esparaz MD, the staff of Cancer Care Specialists; and the DMH Hospice Care staff for their wonderful care throughout Donna’s battle.
Private family services will be held. A celebration of Donna’s life will be held on Sunday May 4, 2014 from 2-4 PM, at Southside Country Club. Family is requesting memorials to the The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research or Southside Country Club Junior Golf Program.
