Donnie "Duck" Davis' Obituary
Donnie “Duck” Davis, 64, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025, in Decatur, IL.
He was born in Decatur on May 16, 1961. He was a jack-of-all-trades, but was most proud of his time working in Railcar Repair at ADM.
Donnie’s life revolved around his family. He loved to spend time with his children just as much as he loved to prank them. He was also known to put them to work helping him install flooring when they were growing up (of course, he always paid, so they didn’t complain too much about it).
Of course, everyone in the family knew that his favorite child was his dog, Sugar. She was his constant companion and he absolutely spoiled her.
His grandchildren truly lit up his world. Whether he was playing with them or taking care of them when they were sick, he cherished every moment. His huge heart and many nicknames will be sorely missed.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence “Dizzy” Davis and wife Darlene; mother, Mary Lou Goodbrake Eckart and husband Doc; wife, Bonnie Sue Davis; four siblings, Huck, Mike, Tina, and Maryann; granddaughter, Madalynn VanScyoc; and his beloved Sugar.
Those surviving include: children, Beverly Romani and husband Christopher, Jessica Hinton and husband Mike, Holly Flanders and husband Cody, Heidi Lofland and husband Cody, and Drew Ray; siblings, Charles Davis, Sonnie Davis, Stan Davis, Donna Eckart, David Eckart, and Mark Eckart; grandchildren, Anthony Greene, Mason Mears, Mateo Sanchez, Destiney Beaman, Landon Kerns, Jaiden Hinton, Ashton Hinton, KJ Davis, Lexi Flanders, Olivia Flanders, Tanner Lofland, Nora Lofland, Natalie VanScyoc, Ethan VanScyoc, Waylon Lofland, Austin Ray Shuemaker, and Lilly Anne Ray; and great-grandchildren, Joshua Greene, Oliver Greene, Rylee Beaman, and Lucas Beaman.
Celebration of Donnie’s life will take place on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Flanders Automotive (2440 S. Long Creek Road, Decatur, IL 62521). Afterward, those gathered are invited to participate in his Final Ride to Graceland Cemetery where he will be laid to rest at 1:00 PM.
